Peulich Encourages Community To Be An MP For A Day

News - Media Releases

Inga Peulich, State Member for the South Eastern Metropolitan Region and Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Communities would like to invite all residents to the Victorian Parliament House Open Day on Sunday 21 March 2010 between 11am – 4pm.

“The Open Day also gives the public a chance to see inside the historic Parliament House building and experience what really goes on inside it,” Ms Peulich said.

“It will give the community the opportunity to be an MP for a day.”

“Many Victorians would be unaware that the Legislative Chambers were in fact two free-standing, bluestone buildings, unconnected and rising three stories tall on the highest part of Melbourne,” Ms Peulich said.

Attractions on the day include:

  • Exhibits from all departments
  • Chambers of the Assembly and Council
  • Victorian Premier's portrait collection
  • Vestibule Mosaic
  • Parliamentary Library
  • Committees of Investigation
  • Devonshire teas and light refreshments
  • Hansard
  • BBQ lunches available in Heritage Listed Gardens
